How publishing and the aimusiclist chart work

What happens when you tick “publish”, and how the Top 100 counts real listeners fairly.

Publishing

  • Everything you upload is always on your own site.
  • Songs with “Also publish on aimusiclist.com” ticked (on by default) are also listed on aimusiclist.com.
  • The first time you publish, your site registers itself. No sign-up, no waiting for approval.
  • Changes show up within about a minute. Untick a song and it leaves aimusiclist right away — including the chart.
  • aimusiclist never stores your song files. It reads your list and plays the songs from your site.
  • Albums with 10 to 30 songs can be published. Publishing an album publishes its songs too.

The chart: count people, not repeats

The chart is built like the big music charts: what matters is how many different people listened, not how many times one person pressed play.

RuleWhat it means
30 secondsA play counts only after 30 real seconds (skipped parts don't count).
Once a day per personThe same person playing the same song again within 24 hours counts once.
50 songs a dayOne listener can add to at most 50 songs per day.
Everyone is equalYour own plays count like anyone else's — once per 24 hours.
No limit per artistIf people love five of your songs, all five can be in the Top 100.

Score for a day

  • Member play: 1 point
  • Guest play: 0.5 point
  • A member adds the song to a playlist: 2 points (once per member, ever)
  • Accounts younger than 24 hours count half.

The weekly Top 100 adds up the last 7 days. The daily chart uses the last day. Charts are calculated once a day at 03:00 Korea time. Ties go to the song with more different listeners, then the one aimusiclist saw first.

Keeping it fair

  • Plays are checked by the server (a signed start ticket and real elapsed time).
  • Too many plays from one IP address on one song are kept as “suspicious” and not counted.
  • Unusual patterns — most plays from one or two places, or mostly brand-new accounts — are put on hold and reviewed.
  • Plays on your own site don't count. Only plays on aimusiclist.com can be checked, so only those are counted.
